interview // seekone

What is the logic behind your name?

The Bible says in Mathew 6:33, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God in his Righteousness and all things shall be added unto you". So instead of saying Seek First we say Seek One.

How did you get into hip-hop?

Seek One has always been into hip-hop, even before Seek One was Seek One. Cbone and Sparrow grew up in the hip-hop culture and it was always a part of Our lives, with the b-boys and pop locking I (Cbone) used to be a bad break Dancer our crew A.C.C. (Atomic Crash Crew) was featured in Low Rider Magazine back In the days for winning Central Valley contest.

What was your first single/recording?

Our first single/recording was "Dear Heavenly Father", a praise song on the CD "Dear Heavenly Father". We are currently doing a remix of this song for The next CD

What was/is youíre favorite single/recording you did?

The song "Who Am I?" is our favorite, because it was a good production and It describes what we must all go through in this world

How would you classify your style as an artist?

Seek One has many different styles of hip hop/ Christian Rap. We are a Little bit country, somewhat rock and roll, a lot of soul, jazz class, and R&P (Rhythm & Praise) musicians, but mainly Christian which makes it whole.

What artist(s) have you not worked with, but would like to?

Seek One would like to work with Jah Word, Unity Klan, MC Mic Won, Seven T, The Kenolly Brothers, Chris & Chubbís out of the bay area yall they are dope, and T-Bone and Prime.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Seek One will be a prominent force in the Industry, producing and Starting our own record label in five years. I would just like to add that We, as Christians need to stop classifying this as an industry although it Is a Music Industry we often forget our sole/soul purpose is ministry and Not Industry.

What do you feel is the toughest part of the music industry?

Seek One believes that just being recognized by the major labels is Difficult enough, but just being able to spread the word of the Lord is Actually the hardest thing a Christian must face in the industry. Many Labels will ask you to change your lyrics to sell CDís and that makes it Hard to do what we came here for. So you stay true to the father and no Record deal. You sell out and your not doing the lords will. As for Seek One We will do Gods will. There are many trials and tribulations our group has Gone through but we must keep pressing on, Because The Lord will bless, has Blessed, and God will continue to bless as long as we stay focused on his Will.

What would the ultimate reward for you be?

As Christians, our ultimate reward would enable Seek One the finances to Spread the gospel on a more expansive level reaching out to the lost and Winning souls for Jesus on a world wide level and having God say "Well done Good and faithful servant." Amen!

What message are you trying to get across to fans?

Seek Ones message to the fans is God can change your life, we have been Through a lot in our lives, we've been from the top to the bottom but if you Trust in Jesus and His Holy Word, He will bring you out of all that miry Clay into and land of paradise. Jesus is the truth the way and the life "Believe That!"

What is your favorite Bible verse(s) and why?

Seek Ones favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:1-2 " I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, and that you Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is Your reasonable service." "And be not conformed to this world but be ye Transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove that which is Good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  This is our favorite verse because it reminds us of what we must be as Christians. To be acceptable, in the eyes of our Lord.

If someone were to look in your CD player or tape player right now what would be in it?

Seek One "G Ride the G Is For The Gospel". And A compilation Cd put together By Mc Mic Won for me (Cbone) with a lot of Christian artists on it.

Personally what does hip hop mean to you?

Seek one believes that hip hop is a culture and part of life but the Gospel is a way of life. Hip Hop is only one way in which to express the Gospel. Gospel Hip Hop to Seek One is a mixing of the the word with Hip Hop grooves and beats on a level to reach the entire Hip-Hop nation.

Who do you feel is your biggest influence and why?

Seek One's biggest influence is Jesus Christ. But on a musical level Roger and Zapp, Commissioned, The Winans, Dr Dre, Run DMC and basically every other group that we have listened to in our lives has influenced us in some way. Because you pick up things from every one you come in contact with

How do you feel your music will effect its listeners?

We feel  that every one who listens to our music will be effected in a positive way, giving hope to the hopeless, insight to the blinded, and a  savior to the unsaved setting the captives free.

If you could change one thing in world, what would it be?

Well, itís hard to say just one thing since there is so much that needs to be changed. But, we would change the human heart to end racism and all hate around the world. So much bad has come from hate just because of the color of ones skin or the way a person dresses or acts if we could end all hate this world would be a much better place.

If you could have one superhuman power, what would it be?

If we could have one super human power it would be the ability to go any place in the universe in seconds. To be with People that we care about and people who need us family and friends

What is the worst job you have ever had?

I would have to say for me, Cbone, it would have to be when I worked for a construction company digging ditches  in 104-degree weather. For me, Sparrow, it would be working out at the aluminum plant because everyday your hand would be burned from holding the metal while it was still hot. "Even with heat resistant gloves it still burnt me up."

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?

One time we were on stage at a big concert in Modesto, CA, we were rapping a song called "Back In The Day", we were filled with so much energy, that we forgot that we had Mic cords. Well, we kept going from one side to the other crossing our cables up and I (Cbone) wanted to go all the way to the other side of the stage but that's when the mics just flew out of our hands and landed on the stage. Yeah, it was very embarrassing but the show had to go on, so we picked up our mics and kept going, never skipping a beat.

What should we expect from Seek One Ministries in the future?

You can expect big thangs from Seek One in the future like having our own record label with many top-billing artists. Also expect Seek One to keep on putting out the hits fo sho!

What is one lesson God is currently teaching you?

TRUST, we are constantly learning to trust in the Lord with so many temptations and  road blocks, things have definitely seemed difficult, but we have learned that if you trust in Him and seek His face, He will guide you through the storm.

Are you performing regularly?

Any last words?

Lets leave the last words to Jesus. John 3:16-21," AND JESUS SAID" "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world not to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."..............AMEN!
